The short answer

Who remodels kitchens in Dallas?

Highland Remodeling is a fully insured, full-service kitchen remodeler in Dallas, owned and operated by David and Karin. We handle the design, the CAD drawings and the build under one roof for homeowners in Dallas, Highland Park, Richardson, Plano and the surrounding DFW area. Full kitchen remodels start at $45,000. Every project starts with a free consultation and ends with an itemized written estimate, so you know the number before any work begins.

What we do

Every part of the room, considered.

A kitchen remodel touches more than cabinets and counters. We plan the whole room: how it connects to the rest of your home, where storage goes, how light moves through it, and what’s behind the walls. The finished space works for the way you actually use it.

01

Layouts and space planning

Open up a closed-off kitchen, add an island, or rethink where the sink, range and refrigerator sit. The layout is where a remodel begins, and it drives most of the cost, so we plan it first.

02

Cabinetry and storage

Cabinetry sets the tone of the room. We plan it around how you cook, gather and store, from islands and pantries to drawer layouts and the details in between.

03

Countertops and surfaces

Quartz, natural stone, tile and other finishes chosen for the way you use your kitchen. We bring samples and explain the tradeoffs so the choices feel clear.

04

Lighting, electrical and fixtures

Layered lighting, under-cabinet lights, new circuits for appliances, plumbing fixtures and hardware that make the finished room work as well as it looks.

05

Tile, backsplash and flooring

Backsplashes, floors and transitions that tie the kitchen to the rest of your home, installed with clean lines and real attention to spacing.

06

Finishing details

Trim, paint and the small decisions at the end that make a remodel feel finished, not just done.

Cost

What a kitchen remodel costs in Dallas.

Full kitchen remodels at Highland start at $45,000. That number covers a real remodel: design, drawings, demolition, cabinetry, countertops, tile, lighting and the finish work that ties it together.

Where your kitchen lands above that depends on a handful of decisions. The biggest one is the layout. Keeping the sink, range and refrigerator where they are keeps the plumbing, gas and electrical simpler. Moving them, or taking out a wall, adds work behind the scenes that you never see in the finished room but still pay for.

We’re not into cutting corners, so we won’t hit a number by quietly leaving things out. We don’t bring our value down to meet your budget. We bring the scope of work down to your budget. Your itemized estimate shows every line, so you can see exactly where the money goes and decide what matters most.

The Highland approach

How a Highland kitchen remodel works.

Six steps, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. You always know what’s happening, what it costs, and what comes next.

01

Free consultation

We start by listening: how you use your kitchen, what isn’t working, and what you want the finished room to feel like. We walk the space and talk through ideas and a realistic investment.

02

Design and CAD drawings

Layout, cabinetry, surfaces and lighting are drawn up so you can see the plan before anyone touches a wall. Design and drawings happen in-house, under the same roof as the build.

03

Itemized written estimate

You get a written estimate that lists what’s included, what isn’t, and what each part costs. You can review it and sign it right from your phone.

04

Permits

We pull permits on every job that needs one. Your estimate tells you whether the permit fees are built into the price or listed as their own line.

05

The build

Staged payments follow the work. You can follow along in our own client portal, with live updates on payments, invoices, the payment schedule, progress photos and the timeline. If anything changes, you get a written change order with the cost, and you sign it before the extra work is done.

06

Final walkthrough and warranty

We walk the finished kitchen with you before the final payment. Every kitchen remodel comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty.

Timeline

How long a kitchen remodel takes.

Every kitchen has its own scope and timeline. Three things move it most: how much of the layout changes, how long cabinets and materials take to arrive, and permits and inspections.

We map out a realistic schedule during your consultation, and you can follow the timeline and progress photos live in our client portal as the work moves. If something takes an extra week to do right, that’s what it’s going to take. You get 2 of the 3: good, fast, cheap. We choose good.

Living through it

Staying home during the work.

Many homeowners stay in the house while we remodel the kitchen. We help you plan for it: a temporary kitchen setup in another room, dust protection over the work area and your HVAC returns, and a heads-up before the louder, dustier days like demolition.

We confirm the schedule early, then confirm it again. Construction is like any relationship. As long as we communicate and trust each other, we’ll be just fine.

Older Dallas homes

What we find behind the walls, we show you.

Kitchens in older homes around Dallas and Highland Park often hide old plumbing, old wiring or past water damage. When we open a wall and find something rotten, wet, failed or not to code, we stop, show you photos, explain the fix and give you a written change order with the cost before we go further. You decide. We don’t cover it up. It’s got to be fixed properly.

Questions

Kitchen remodeling FAQ.

01

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Dallas?

At Highland Remodeling, full kitchen remodels start at $45,000. Where your project lands depends mostly on the layout (moving plumbing, gas or walls adds cost), the cabinetry, the countertops, the electrical and lighting work, and what we find in the walls of an older home. After your free consultation you get an itemized written estimate, so you see what each part costs before any work begins.

02

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

Every kitchen has its own scope and timeline. The biggest factors are how much of the layout changes, how long cabinets and materials take to arrive, and permits and inspections. We map out a realistic schedule during your consultation and you can follow the timeline live in our client portal as the work moves. If it takes an extra week to do it right, that’s what it’s going to take.

03

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Dallas?

Often, yes. Work that changes plumbing, electrical, gas or walls usually needs a permit. We pull permits on every job that needs one. Depending on the project, permit fees are either built into your price or listed as their own line, and your estimate tells you which.

04

Can I stay in my home during a kitchen remodel?

Many homeowners do. We help you plan for it: a temporary kitchen setup somewhere else in the house, dust protection, and a heads-up on the louder and dustier days like demolition. We confirm the schedule early, then confirm it again, so you know what each day looks like.

05

What happens if you find damage behind the walls?

We don’t cover it up. If we open a wall and find something rotten, wet, failed or not to code, we stop, show you photos, explain the fix and give you a written change order with the cost before we go further. You decide, and it gets fixed properly.

06

How do payments work on a kitchen remodel?

Payments are staged and follow the work. There is a deposit at signing, payments as each stage is completed, and the final payment after the walkthrough. We never ask for most of the money up front. Your estimate spells out every payment before you sign, and you can see your payment schedule, invoices and payments anytime in our client portal.

07

How will I know what’s happening during my kitchen remodel?

We have our own client portal. You get live updates on payments, invoices, your payment schedule, progress photos and the timeline, so you can check where things stand anytime. We also confirm the schedule early, then confirm it again, and you can always call us with questions.

08

What if my ideas cost more than I planned to spend?

We’ll tell you honestly and help you decide what matters most. We don’t bring our value down to meet your budget. We bring the scope of work down to your budget. That might mean keeping the layout and putting the money into cabinetry and counters, or phasing part of the work.

09

Do you design the kitchen, or do I need a designer?

We handle design, CAD drawings and the build under one roof. You can see the layout and the plan before work starts, and the same team that drew it builds it.

10

Is your kitchen remodeling work warrantied?

Yes. Every kitchen remodel comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty. Every job ends. The relationship doesn’t.
